Bicycles and Basketball

The weather was finally nice enough to spend the early evening outside. The boys took their bikes to the streets.

While Kinsey was taught the finer points of dunking a basketball by her dad.

It was a sad, sad day

It was time for the monthly trim... we went to the regular salon, our regular stylist was on vacation, so we went with Reyna. I explained what we wanted, I thought very thouroughly. She started snipping away with the scissors and Kinsey's hair got shorter and shorter, not at all what we wanted. I told Reyna that this didn't look like the right cut and she assured me that it would look perfect when she was finished. She's the stylist not me so I continued to watch. When we got home Kinsey and I went into the bathroom, we tried round brushing, we tried curling, we tried everything. I called the salon owner, I was livid. This picture is after we went back in and the owner tried to salvage Kinsey's beautiful hair. It will grow, I know and she still looks beautiful, but the experience was awful.

"I look like a birthday present"

Just for fun, we used the rollers this morning, "I look like a birthday present huh mom"

"Yes, as a matter of fact you do."

I think our weather is starting to perk up, the girls and I spent the afternoon outside, it was a little cool, but lots of sunshine.
Kinsey is the lucky one, not only does she get afternoon adventures that no one else gets because they are at school, but she also gets A PUNCHING BALLOON!!! Wow, some kids have all the luck.

Valentine Cookies

It is Valentines Day, and what better thing to do than make cookies.

Half of the frosting ends up in our mouths instead of on the cookies.

And if a few sprinkles look good, then a lot will look a whole bunch better.

Ahhhh!!! Perfection.

Now Brendan on the other hand was fastidious about his cookies, every stroke of frosting was leveled off to the precise thickness
Ooopps, there's a little on the side.

The glorious finished product

You're late!!!

So... the boys were late to school today. The nice lady in the front office gave them each their late slips. They hustled to the cafeteria where the rest of their class was already eating lunch.

"Beautiful Children"

Every Sunday at church I probably get 10-15 comments on how beautiful, how good, how sweet my children are I definatly agree, but I wanted to pass it along to the rightful recipient. You have beautiful children.

Pajama party

As a reward for rooms clean, beds made, homework done and general good behavior Friday night is our family movie night. We set blankets all over the floor, the girls danced in the living room while Dad made a pineapple upsidedown cake and Brendan and Roman made the popcorn. Then we all settle in for our Friday night movie of "Journey to the Center of the Earth"...(Roman and Brendan are being rockets)

Little artist in the making

Girls in green

Old Navy was having its Winter Clearance. I made the girls give us a fashion show.

An adored big sister

KeeKee is the affectionate name that Allison has given to Kinsey, she follows her around the house like a puppy. Today Kins put Allison in the office chair and they spun around and around squealing in delight as it went faster and faster. The aftermath wasn't quite as fun. Allison drunkenly staggered into the kitchen just in time to lose her breakfast on the floor. Kinsey on the other hand just went into the living room and started dancing round and round, like it was nothing.

Chef Brendan

"When is dinner? When is dinner?", "I don't know Mr Brendan, how about when you make it." "Really, can I?" So, tonight we were treated to Noodles ala Brendan. He was very proud of himself, he also set the table and made the punch. A culinary master in his own right.

Lots and Lots of Fog

No, the picture is not blurry, our winter is characterized by fog, lots and lots of it. This particular morning we couldn't see the houses next door and the kids were put on "foggy day schedule" where school starts two hours later.

Lunch and a trip to the Salon

Ms Kinser's before and after shots. I kept the A-line cut because it was adorable on her, just trimmed it up really. She was a bit disappointed that we couldn't do pigtails anymore, but she came around. Afterward we went out to lunch where she was rewarded with one BIG cookie because she ate her entire sandwhich, lettuce and all.

Before and After's

You can't see it that well in this picture, but we could put some mean spikes in this boys hair it was definatly time for a hair cut.
Now that is one handsome boy!

Running for the bus

Usually the boys wait out front for the bus, but today we were handing out fruit snacks when the appointed time came for them to catch the bus. Thankfully we had everything laid out by the front door and a sharp eyed Brendan saw the bus through the window of the door at the same time as the bus driver laid on her horn. You never saw two boys run quicker to get their jackets and backpacks. A day of kindergarten is not a thing to be missed.
